MUSIC BOOSTER MEETING- THIS WEEK- Wed. May 16, 2012-  is a MANDATORY BOOSTER MEETING for ALL families. General Membership (All Music parents) – 7:00pm in LHHS Gym or Theater, Executive Board- 6:00pm in Music room. ATTACHED ARE AGENDA AND APRIL MINUTES , please print and bring with you to the meeting.  Some of our students will be giving a performance before the meeting. BOARD elections will be held. Come hear updates and news from Mr. Julian, student leaders and the Booster Board. ALSO AVAILABLE at the booster meeting are Decals and Spirit Wear.  
Booster Board 2012-13  Nominations- Following is the proposed slate for the 2012-2013 Music Booster Board which we will vote on at the Mandatory Booster meeting on May 16th.  Positions run July 1, 2012- June 30, 2013.  ALL positions need to be filled now for next year.  Freshman families can sign up for most positions and if you want to Co-Chair an event or non elected position, grab a partner and sign up!   ALL families are required to volunteer and help, please sign up now and help our Music program.  Points earned for all positions.   There are resources to help with all positions (notes/guides and helpful people).

Incoming Music Freshman parent and student orientation meeting- Thu. May 31st  at 6:30pm in the Music room  #201.  This is a mandatory meeting for all incoming Music freshman families.  Mr. Julian will be giving next year’s calendar, ensemble news, registration info…  Parents are encouraged to sign up for positions for next year also.  If you know anyone coming in, please give them this info.  Thank you.
NEED- NEW VENUE FOR HOLIDAY CONCERT- We have out grown Laguna Woods Club house 3 (and it is no longer available). If you have connections to a venue that has a stage with curtain, seats 600+ audience, and is available for a reasonable cost (<$500)- please contact Mr. Julian at Andrew.julian@svusd.org.
CURRENT FUNDRAISER EVENTS- EVERYONE IS REQUIRED to be involved (students and parents)! 
100% participation is required for the LHHS Music program to be successful AND for the success of the fundraising events. PLEASE VOLUNTEER AND SUPPORT our LHHS MUSIC program!
OC REGISTER  Sunday Subscriptions:  DEADLINE TO SUBMIT YOUR ORDERS- THIS MONDAY May 14th. NO EXCEPTIONS !    After the 10 subscriptions up to 15 the money will go into your account.  Must attach 2 penny’s to form and include valid address. Contact Anne with questions at WaysandMeans@lhhsmusic.com .
Gallup Park Summer Concerts:  NEED VOLUNTEERS TO START SIGNING UP IN ADVANCE.  Music Boosters will be selling food and drinks at the Nellie Gail Friday night concerts. We need parents and students to volunteer as cooks (cook and bring) & servers at each event. Sales will begin at 6:15pm, concerts at 7, end at 9pm. The concert nights are: 6/15- Rock & Roll, 6/29- Big Band, 7/13-Eagles tribute band, 7/27- Country, 8/10- U2 tribute band, 8/24-Jimmy Buffet tribute band.   (can sign up one, a couple or for all).

Meal ideas include crock pot or large bowl type: Sloppy Joes, Mac N Cheese, Nachos, Rice bowls, Chicken pasta salad…?? We will also be selling desserts and drinks. The concerts are a lot of fun and will be an easy way to raise money for our LHHS music program.  Bring your whole family to enjoy the concerts and encourage your music student to help support their program.
Orchestra and Choir are hosting a Luau at LHHS to raise money for their 2013 Hawaii Music Festival.  Mark your calendars for Sept. 22, 2012.  They need volunteers to make this event happen, contact Celeste Hall at CelesteHall@att.net .

MARCHING BAND & COLOR GUARD- 2012 CAMP AND COMP SCHEDULE   posted on the website.  2012 MB &CG June camp 6/18/12- 6/22/12 from 8am – 5pm.  MANDATORY Aug. camp 8/6-8/17, Parent Performance & potluck 8/17.    2011 students contact Treasurer Ingrid Cebula if you still have outstanding fees, thank you.

ORCHESTRA AND SYMPHONIC: Next concert Thu. Treasurer’s Message:   PLEASE PAY YOUR PROGRAM FEES.  Statements have been sent out to all families. There are multiple trips and ensembles…..which are costly to our program. If you are unable to pay personally, options include working in Snack bar, Sponsorship letters, sell on eBay/garage sales…. Be creative. Everyone needs to contribute in this tough economy or our Music program will not be able to sustain. Remember the district only pays for Mr. Julian, we provide the rest as a collective group. GRANT WRITER(S) NEEDED- If you know how to write grants or are able to mentor others in the process, we need to write grants to get funding to support our LHHS Music program. At the last Booster meeting, Mr. Julian presented multiple needs that cost more than we can raise with current fundraising. There are multiple organizations that we can tap into. If you are interested, please contact Mr. Julian (Andrew.julian@svusd.org) and Craig Williams (President@lhhsmusic.com). Thank you for helping to support our musicians!

Parents needed to help at LHHS Grad Nite- GRAD NITE 2012 is fast approaching & we need PARENTS to help make this a fun, safe & sober celebration for our Seniors! If you have a little bit of time or a lot, every bit helps. Community Service hours available-350 volunteers are needed to help out at the Laguna Hills Memorial Day Half Marathon, 5k, 10k and Kids Runs on Monday,May 28, 2012 . The 14thannual Memorial Day running event ends at the LH Community Center. Runners and walkers of all ages and levels come out and enjoy the Memorial Day festivities while supporting the United States Marine Corps Dark Horse Battalion and South County Outreach. This is a general fundraiser, but for all sales over 10 (limit 15), the $10 earnings for each subscription will be credited to the musician’s individual account, must have valid addresses on form, see form for details.
