From Dolores Winchell

" I ran into Mr. Haley the week following the closing of Beauty and The Beast and he just couldn't give the show's cast and orchestra enough accolades!  He mentioned that he was working the last Saturday (administrator on campus) and had originally planned on watching the matinee and working during the evening performance.  However, when he ducked into the evening performance to let folks know he would be available and working in his office if needed, he just couldn't pull himself away, even though hours before he had seen the entire performance. "

From Suzie Swartz:

Dear Mr. Walezak,

Dolores Winchell gave me your email saying it was the best way to send a note to Rebecca.  I would like to thank Rebecca and her fellow musicians in the LHHS Pep Band for their participation in our Stand Up for Schools Rally on March 4th.

Not only did the pep band help draw lots of attention to our schools' cause, their music also helped to energize our community in these difficult times.  Everyone I spoke with agreed that the pep band, under the direction of Rebecca and Richard, made a tremendous difference to bring our community together -- not to mention that their music also made the afternoon enjoyable and certainly made the time pass quickly.

Please extend to Rebecca and her band mates my heartfelt thanks.

Sincerely,

Suzie Swartz

Dear Jean,

Please know how much my husband Joe and I enjoyed the Holiday Concert in Laguna Woods.  It was a wonderful evening for a former Hawk mom.  The grand finale - (Handel) took our breath away - a true and beautiful blend of talent, spirit, and many hours of hard work.

Yours Truly,
Melody Carruth

Point System

In regards to the Point System, the new year starts on July 1, 2010. All point accounts will be reset to zero. Here are a couple of ways you can earn points over the summer and get a jump start towards next year:

Dine-Out Fundraiser: Contact a local area restaurant to host a Dine Out for the LHHS Music Boosters. The restaurant, in exchange for a percentage of sales, will receive many benefits. In addition to a boost in sales, they will receive mentions in numerous emails to parents, students and faculty. Also, their flyer will be on the home page of the website. You can tell them that we have about 100 families in the booster organization in addition to connections with Music Alumni, the PTSA, and Laguna Woods residents. Assure them, they will get great exposure with our organization. If you would like more information, please contact Happy Dychiao.

Use your Creativity: Remember this is your Music Booster Organization. Submit any ideas for events or products that you feel will benefit us and our families. If approved and you head up the event, you will receive points. Ideas should be submitted to Happy Dychiao.

The Marching Band and Color Guard season starts very soon and we will have a list of items that need to be donated and tasks that need your time from Kelly Blackburn, the Marching Band Coordinator. These will come to you by emails and postings on the website.

This year we are graduating 17 families. We wish them all good luck with bright and prosperous futures. We will see a couple of families again next year because they have other children in the program. We have met a few of the incoming families at Freshman Night and hope we made an impact as to the amount of work that is involved supporting the students and this wonderful program. Next year with their help, should prove to be better as the program has evolved over the years. All of this is due to your hard work, dedication, and passion. We thank you so much.

Again, we thank everyone for making the Laguna Hills High School Music and Guard Program a success.
